THERE IS NOTHING MORE EFFECTIVE THAN....
PRAYERFUL OBEDIENCE
Above all else...please spend time praying for this ministry. Your partnership in this way is most appreciated and effective.
God has entrusted to me many areas of ministry - their effectiveness is NOT how much I do, but what God does through me and through those He chooses to use (including prayer partners, like YOU, across the world).
God desires my worship, obedience and prayer...
* Give Adoration and Thanks:
* URGENT PRAYER:
* Prayer for YWAM Philippines:
- Ongoing financial provision for the Discipleship Training School (DTS) planned to commence in September 2019.
- Purchase of a Base (instead of renting - we spend so much each month in dead rental payments) (Purchase cost of a good building suitable as a Base could be as much as $200,000 USD)
- Purchase of a multicab vehicle for transport needs (would save a lot in paying for fares for ministry) (approx $5,000 USD)
- Construction of a Youth Centre (some staff have been called to this ministry - an appropriate place to meet would be blessing)
- Location of spiritually needy communities for specific ministry
- Effective means of financially supporting local Filipino YWAM missionary staff (up to $200 USD per month)
* Prayer for my following YWAM ministries:
* student sponsorship for street children, the poor and needy (currently assisting approx 140 students, many of whom have no sponsor);
* practical assistance to victims of devastation from typhoons, floods and other natural calamities;
* basic medical support;
* street feeding;
* family and community development support;
* discipleship - spiritual guidance and teaching;
* building strong and effective relationships with people in community, government and business.
* Personal prayer needs and burdens:
Asking for God's will to be done, not mine, concerning the following:
- More hours in the day, or if not, knowing what is important and what is not
- Deeper devotion to Jesus and God's Word and a burden for the lost
- Ageing mother and those who care for her
- Financial provision (my own financial need AND the financial needs of other YWAM Butuan staff, especially local Filipino staff)
- Healing for sick family members
- Burden towards those who are disabled and/or mentally ill but have nowhere to stay or be cared for in appropriate ways
- Improvements in language retention, recall and conversation

* Give Adoration and Thanks:
- Give adoration and praise to our loving Heavenly Father, our creator and sustainer; to Jesus, the Saviour from the curse of OUR sin and its consequence - death; and to the Holy Spirit, our comforter and the One who renews our heart.
- Thank the Lord for the international ministry of YWAM and all other mission organisations that faithfully proclaim His Word and seek to serve Him obediently.
- Praise God that He powerfully blesses and uses these mission organisations to reach many people with the life-changing truth of the Gospel.
* URGENT PRAYER:
- 2019 APRIL: In the Philippines, the School Year finished around the first week of April, with schools holding their Recognition and Graduation Ceremonies. The next SY is planned to commence around the beginning of June 2019. Many students and families need to make important decisions for the new SY. Please pray for God to guide these families.
- 2019 APRIL: Please pray that God will move in the hearts of people (both within the Philippines and abroad) to help fund the YWAM Butuan Student Sponsorship Program. Every year more and more families are wanting to join the Program.
- 2019 APRIL: YWAM Surigao, together with YWAM Butuan are planning to hold its annual Slingshot Youth Camp near Surigao. The camp is planned to he held April 22-25, 2019. Please pray for God to move in the hearts and lives of the youth and others attending the camp for the building of His kingdom.
- In September 2019, YWAM Butuan plans to commence its next Discipleship Training School (DTS). The DTS has 3 months lecture phase followed by 3 months outreach (putting into practice everything learned during the lecture phase, and gaining an awareness of life as a missionary). Please pray for each speaker as they seek direction from the Lord and prepare their training. Please pray for DTS staff in their preparation and for students to be moved by God to apply, and be blessed as they grow in their relationship with Jesus throughout the DTS.
- YWAM Butuan has a number of local (Mindanao) Filipino full time missionary staff. YWAM staff are not paid a salary or given any allowance. Most Filipino missionaries have little access to financial support from their church communities and families, so please pray for regular financial and prayer support for their ministries and personal needs.
* Prayer for YWAM Philippines:
- Pray for YWAM Philippines and the many YWAM Bases across this Nation, including YWAM Butuan that each one will be faithful in the small things, being willing to serve and do first, then preach.
- Pray that the leadership, staff, volunteers and other workers both Nationally and at the local levels will daily seek to do His will without fear or favour.
- Ask God to provide for the financial needs of each Base and each individual, as they seek to serve Him.

OLD PRAYER REQUESTS WITH UPDATES:
- One of the ministries God has entrusted to me is working among those living and/or working on the streets, including the prostitutes and their pimps - providing for their basic medical and physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for "M", who has recently come onto the streets of Butuan (possibly escaping a violent marital relationship). I have commenced basic treatment for an ulcerated wound on her leg, and seek your prayers for her healing - physical, emotional and spiritual. UPDATE 1: After just ONE treatment, I checked on the ulcerated wound, two or three days later, and discovered a beautifully sealed, uninfected and unswollen wound and leg - so amazingly different to what I saw the two or three days earlier!!! (The powder I used was from the Gumby Gumby Tree that the Australian Aborigines have apparently used for hundreds of years to treat wounds and many other internal and external ailments.
- Please pray for healing for "B" who is a teenager on the street suffering bad skin infection on the face. Also. pray for "J", a young man who left street-life more than a year ago, but is struggling in his spiritual journey and finding real purpose. UPDATE 1: "B" is much improved, but skin infections are so common among those living on the streets, due to a lack of access to good clean water for bathing. "J" sometimes receives and welcomes youth discipleship training, when available.
- Also, please pray for young "J", living in an orphanage and currently on medical treatment, but who has experienced God's amazing hand of grace and provision and wonderful answered prayer. May he grow in his walk with Jesus, so that when he is older, he will be a mature Christian man of God. UPDATE 1: "J" is continuing to improve physically, emotionally and spiritually. He struggles with school work and finds it hard to learn new things.
- My elderly father, living in Australia, recently fell breaking his femor. Please pray for God's quick and pain-free healing. His operation is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday June 9, 2015). Please pray for wisdom and strength for the family members, medical staff and carers. Please pray for my mother as she will feel the increased burden of caring for her husband. UPDATE 1: He has had the operation and is now in a special high care ward of just 4 patients, with a nurse 24/7. This is the first hurdle that he has survived - the next 24 - 48 hours is a critical period. Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace in sustaining my father through this difficult time. UPDATE 2: My father has now passed the critical 48 hour period and is showing signs of improvement. Thank you for the ongoing prayers. Yesterday (Thursday, June 11) afternoon the physios were planning to get him up for the first time, since the operation. UPDATE 3: On July 6 my father passed away. A couple of weeks before he died, he told those who were with him that he wanted to meet Jesus. I know he isn't disappointed. I praise the Lord that I was able to get a last-minute flight back to Australia, arriving in time to attend the funeral. It was a truly very blessed time with family and friends. I also praise the Lord for giving me the opportunity to spend about three weeks with Christine (my sister, who is not well, but doing OK) and her family. Also, I spent lovely times with my mother, who is living in a dementia section of a very nice Christian-based retirement village near Brisbane. The Lord opened the way for me to visit Dalby (the last town I lived in before going into full-time mission work) for about four days. This was a wonderful time of renewing friendships and re-connecting with one of my sending churches (Dalby Presbyterian Community) which has provided on-going great support in prayer, finance, and spiritual and physical needs. I arrived back in Manila on 2 August, then Butuan City on 5 August.
